FOUNDER : Mrs. V. Sagaana
The founder of the Village Community Trust, Mrs. V. Sagaana is a visionary, and a sympathizer of the toiling rural women and men from lower strata of the society for their livelihood, employment and education of their children. These segment of people employ themselves in the toughest and disturbing jobs in the society like road laying, building work, quarry work etc. risking their lives and toiling under rain and sunshine. Though they toil heavily, their earning is insufficient to look after all the needs of their families. Mrs. Sagaana having deep concern, sympathy, and love for these most vulnerable communities has dedicated her attention to these toiling mass and the poor women and men in self-employment programs creating opportunities for rural entrepreneurship and wealth generation encouraging them for education, and encouraging the boys and girls to take their education with more involvement.
The aims and objectives of Village community Trust envisages Village community development as the process of improving living standards, infrastructure, and self-reliance of the poor rural mass through collective action and local participation. It goes beyond building physical assets like roads, clean water systems, and schools to empower residents to identify their own needs and manage local resources. When villagers work together—through shared labor, local committees, and active leadership—they turn traditional ties into sustainable progress and become rural entrepreneurs laying the foundation of development and upliftment of the entire region.
Village Community Trust is a Non-profit voluntary organisation registered on 19th September, 2022 as a Trust under Indian Trusts Act, 1882. Since the date of registration, we are engaging in rural areas of Tindivanam Taluk, Villupuram District working for a successful development model blending official government support with grassroots initiative.
We are conducting programs driven by village development officers and local committees helping them bridge gaps in healthcare, agriculture, and education of the rural population. We encourage the community members take ownership of projects like clean drinking water supply, women's literacy, and cooperative farming, the transformation becomes lasting so that they can transfer the process to their successors and make progress made sustainable. Strengthening these rural foundations not only improves daily life for local families but also secures the broader economic and cultural health of the nation.
We are giving more attention to the rural boys and girls in their education encouraging them in every step and supporting them well so that there are not dropouts from school education. We are conducting evening coaching centers in as many as 10 villages which are participated by more than 300 boys and girls from poor families. We find that these children, in addition to their regular school curriculum, also need support by way of clarifications, explanations in understanding the logics and themes and topics in their subjects which they find difficult to understand in their regular school atmosphere.
We are also conducting two days workshops for school girls and boys during holidays and help them learn general topics which are not covered in their regular school curriculum. We engage forest officers, environmentalists, agriculture officers, and bank officers and teach them subjects like the importance of the environment and ecology and how they help the living things and maintain a balanced atmosphere avoiding catastrophe of natural calamity. The environmentalists encourage them planting trees and the agricultural officers teach them how to grow the cattle population and how to improve the soil fertility and generate organic manure to help organic farming. The bank officers impress upon the necessity of saving and how saving helps building up the economy of our country.
